The mild disappointment I felt as I looked at my stardust app to see my period was due just before I was going to be with Matt for a few days. Don’t get me wrong, there’s pros, it’s not all bad.

Matt’s a caretaker in the ways that really matter. He understands how each stage of my cycle affects me, he knows what I need without me having to spell it out. He’s quick to grab the heating pad, his hands are always ready to rub my back, my head, my feet, or my stomach without a sigh or hesitation.

There’s an extra bottle of Midol sitting on his bedside table, just in case. He’ll make as many grocery runs as it takes without a second thought. Fresh flowers show up, Diet Coke is stocked, and sushi appears without me ever having to ask. (to continue reading please upgrade to a paid subscription)
